It already became permanently deluded tradition. The night you take-off, it is a talk about the DV. He went to Liberia and blood money., is the talk. You would be greeted by the predators at the spot and arrival. There are three only and main places if you want to live in peace and no scrutiny. Seven-Eleven, Taxicab or cleaners' job. Otherwise you are dead meat two ways and very elementary. The guy who might be told that you have $100,000 jiobs solicits it two ways. The predator scam from down and the racist stomp from up. They both had no chance of life tiome for generations. So what? Tell Clinton and the DC/MD/VA/CA scam ring to stop coaxing. That is how all of us were executed and muredered by the fearless claimants. If scrutinized in Seven Eleven and a PhD, you are anther dead meat, because the racist has to hoax you 24/7 to racketeers and/or just based on his fear. At the end of the day, $1 Billion would be lost to fraud, waste and abuse, as the data shows. Who really cares? God Bless China and it's $1.4 Trillion in holdings.

This so called Soliderity is not peaceful, but rather political group who gets direct from opposition. They want EPRDF led government fail by any means, it will not happen in the future and did not happen in the past, it is empty rehteric. The Meles led smart intellectual Ethiopian government will continued to lead the country forever. Most of of you will cry forever and get tired of politics and die out, this is the reality must face in life. The vast majority of Ethiopians love Meles and the very oraganiztion it leads. America and any other power have no capablity to change the government there. It is much safer to let the stable government run the nation than woundering with the unknown opposition sworn enemy of Ethiopian people. Most of these oppositions leaders are bank roled by the felthy SHABIA agents in Washington, ask Tamagn and he will tell you honestly how other enemy of Ethiopia are contacting him and his group to do the dirty work for them. These people are traitors and will sell any information for money, so please come to sense and think again what you are requesting.

The above message is worth noting. The opposition should have a solid united front that is capable of keeping the country united. They should show not only to the U.S. government but also to the Ethiopian society their presence at the grass root level and their integrity. Their capability of reaching all sectors of the society and the modality they have developed to avoid any conflict among themselves is pertinent at this moment. Their medias should try to spell out how they want the future Ethiopia to be built in an all inclusive way. Now it is time to come up with a time table. It is also time that would be leaders come up and stand at the side of the Ethiopian people. What we see is only activists. There is a lot of uncertainty in the minds of the people which should be cleared out. All the what ifs should be cleared out by the media of the opposition parties. Spelling out the weaknesses of the EPRDF alone is not a solution. All stakeholders want to know that the future government will not repeat what was done in the past.

One can't question Obang's integrity and tangible contributions for the Ethiopian cause during these critical times. This however doesn't mean that his excellent message will reach the policy makers. That is not how governments work. The recipient is likely to be a lower level burocrat, who will certainly read the letter and if he considers it of value forward it one step up. What will be more scrutinized than the content of the letter is the capability of the political organization the author represents. Who ever addresses a letter to the Secretary of State may recieve a reply. This usually is not more than a routine curtousy.

Ethiopian opposition forces have to understand that nothing short of a formidable organization will enable them to be considered seriously. The US no doubt knows how undemocratic, abusive and unpopular the TPLF dictatorship is. But on the other hand it also realizes that an alternative organization capable of holding the country together and further being a positive factor for the region's stability has not yet emerged. The Ethiopian opposition forces should therefore assist the US to be helpful by recognizing their shortcomings of the last 21 years and establishing a sustainable united front.

This may be easier said than done, but there is short cut. The fragmented Ethiopian opposition groups seeking US recognition should be cognizant of the capabilities of this super power. Its sophisticated diplomatic and intelligence institutions are not easy to manipulate.

I agree with most of what Askale Camadaa wrote above.

The one thing I want to add is that the US doesn't just wait until a group comes out as a winner. The US DOES play active roles to ensure the winner is the one it wants. Also, the US doesn't like nationalists. I remember what I heard from NPR radio a few years ago, which said that, the US hated Saddam Husain not because of communist or religious concerns. It didn't like him because he was a nationalist; he wanted to make Iraq grow. Similarly, the US sends money to TPLF to pay for its spies, its killing squad (the police and Agazi forces) and to bribe strong opposition leaders (Lidetu Ayalew comes to my mind) and weaken the unity of the opposition. Who knows if some of the current so called opposition leaders have the US backing behind the scenes?

I am also short of words as well. The text I have read candidly expresses the thoughts and aspirations of most Ethiopians. It is time for the United States government to seriously rethink its support to the most repressive regime in Africa that holds the whole country hostage for its lust for power and wealth with little regard to basic human rights. The looming crisis in Ethiopia is a result of the reigning of a despot who managed to perpetuate his tyranny for 21 years with unprecedented western support. Certainly, he managed to dupe the west lecturing on "development" while preaching and promoting with all his might ethnic divisions within the country just to divide and rule as long as he could. It appears nature has stopped him. We all pledge to the west and especially, the United States, not come behind another TPLF tyrant who may try to put his grips on us as we have already suffered too much for too long.

Yes we can always get together and demand that the US need not cut a deal with the tplf.

But what is totally lacking and makes the demand both banal and ineffectual is the living fact that all of these bickering, divided and unreliable oppositions totally failed to form viable alliances in the 21 long years of tplf dictatorship and through that again failed to present both to the Ethiopians and the world a viable and trust worthy alternative to be reckoned with.

In state to state mutual cooperation the US like any government chooses the stronger, trusted regional ally rather than the unknown, weak and divided bickering opposition. Truth hurts but it must be told truthfully otherwise we will keep dreaming in vain and betting on dead horses. Even the cia might have the dead body of meles in its refrigerator away from the reach any celebratory opposition just to make them dance in the rain as well as buying time for fixing the following friendly government who may accept grants and donations to do the business. :)
