Eyob Tekalign will succeed Mamo Mihretu as the 11th governor of the National Bank of Ethiopia (NBE), leaving behind his post as a state minister of Finance.
Mamo announced his resignation earlier this month after less than two years at the helm of the central bank and amid an IMF-backed economic reform program.
The Office of the Prime Minister announced today that Eyob will take over at the NBE, while Enatalem Meles has been chosen to replace Legesse Tulu as head of the Government Communication Service.
